Sign up to a yarn club based upon the ancient world.
Come on a journey with indie dyer Countess Ablaze to explore a year of festivals of Greece and Rome.

Absolutely NO prior experience of the ancient world is required, just a willingness for Alitzah Grant and the Countess to take you on a voyage through twelve months of fabulous festivals.

The Countess is a graduate of Classics and Ancient History and to take us to a higher level of knowledge, we've got Alitzah Grant on board as a consultant.

Alitzah is a Classics and Latin teacher in the state sector and a knitting designer, having previously worked for Rowan and Sirdar as well as currently designing for Countess Ablaze and other indie yarn businesses.

No prior knowledge of the ancient world is required to join, just an enthusiasm for joining a yarn club that is a little bit different.

Each month, you'll receive a specially printed box filled with a skein of hand dyed yarn. Skeins are in the 100 gram ballpark and will range from fingering to aran weight. There are no curveballs, no rustic yarns, but the sort of fibres that you're familiar with using such as Bluefaced Leicester, Falkland Merino, silk. We may even throw in an occasional Masham blend. Two colourways are dyed for the month; you'll receive one colourway for one skein boxes and both colourways for two skein boxes.

You'll also receive a booklet written by Countess Ablaze and Alitzah Grant with an essay, a pattern suitable for one skein and tech edited plus suggested further reading. This is printed on recycled paper and is beautifully illustrated by artist Raji Salan and features photography from Nicola Grimshaw-Mitchell.

Each month you'll also receive a small handmade trinket, such as stitch markers.
